On March 4, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. in the hall of the branch activists, the next "3- A TRAINING COURSE dedicated to "World Wildlife Day" was held.
During the training course, the chairman of the "ECOLOGY AND GREEN ECONOMY" student science club, associate professor Z.S. Bobomuradov made a debate speech "On endangered species of wild animals and plants".
Humans have both positive and negative effects on plants. Reforestation, greening, creation of plant varieties, etc. have a positive effect.
As a result of the negative impact of man, a large part of the forests on our planet has been destroyed in the last ten thousand years, and many valuable plant species have disappeared. The area of forests is 62 mln. 40 million from km2. reduced to km2 (1994).
Currently, the processes of sharp reduction of the forest area continue. Tropical forests, which are considered the "lungs" of our planet, are being cut at the rate of 15-20 hectares per minute. These processes can upset the stable state of balance in the biosphere and increase the risk of ecological destruction. Dozens of plant species are disappearing as a result of new land development and environmental pollution.
"Red Book" and its importance in plant protection
The "Red Book" provides the following information on a particular plant:
1). Scarcity level (status);
2). Spread;
3). Growing conditions;
4). Number;
5). Increase;
6). Reasons for changes in the number and area of plants;
7). Cultivation;
8). Protective measures;
Due to a number of reasons, a plant may change its status in one direction or another, i.e., the plant may disappear completely or no longer need protection.
Forest resources in Uzbekistan are limited, forest cover is about 4%.
There are mountain, desert, mountain and valley forests. 311 thousand mountain forests. ha or 11% of forests. Of these, there are 204,000 spruce forests. or 7%.
The area of desert forests is 2.4 million ha or 87% of the entire forest area. It mainly consists of saxophone and drums.
The forests of the river banks and the forest banks are preserved on only 25,000 hectares and cover 1% of the total forest area.
Artificial forests of the valley make up 12 thousand hectares (0.4% of forests). The area of the most valuable mountain forests has decreased dozens of times. A lot of forests have been cut down. Currently, reforestation works do not fully meet the demand.
There are many types of medicinal and nutritious plants in Uzbekistan, and most of them currently require protection. Every year, hundreds of tons of medicinal and food plants are produced in the republic.
23 million pastures in Uzbekistan. hectare, or half of the available areas. As a result of overgrazing of livestock, 70% of pastures have fallen into unusable condition. Excessive use of mountain pastures leads to the death of plants, soil degradation, erosion, and an increase in floods.
In our republic, various activities are being conducted to ensure the rational use of plant resources and their protection.
Extinction of new areas leads to the extinction of many species of animals:
- land plowing;
- construction of new industrial complexes;
- building roads;
- expansion of cities and villages and others are the reason.
The natural decrease in the number of animals is observed in all countries of the world, and it is becoming a global problem, but the loss and decrease of animal species is caused by unplanned hunting without taking into account the possibility of reproduction, improper use of chemicals, destruction of land and soil. plowing, deforestation, draining of water bodies are causing it.
At the end of the training, students received answers to their questions
